7 August 2013The Arga and Aragon rivers boast a good show of a number of riparian habitats, with regard to surface area and degree of naturalness. However, both rivers are marked by a considerable occurrence of non-native plant taxa, which can either be invasive or non-invasive.
The study made on the presence of invasive exotic flora within the area of the SCI, includes a cartographic inventory of three invasive exotic species: Ailanthus altissima (tree of heaven), Arundo donax (giant cane) and Robinia pseudoacacia (false acacia). has made it possible to additionally identify a further 85 non-native taxa spread across 1940 different locations.
This study can be used to establish guidelines and appropriate management and eradication measures , some of which, the ones with the utmost priority, will be implemented within the LIFE Mink Territory project.
